Founded in 2005, the International College of Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders (ICOCS) is an independent non-profit organization committed to fostering research, promoting awareness, and providing a convivial and supportive platform for professional collaboration in the field of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders (OCSDs). Our organization is composed of expert professionals from various disciplines and dedicated lay members from around the world.

Our Aims and Objectives


  • Support innovative research initiatives addressing the causes and consequences of OCD and OCSDs and facilitate the communication of ideas, research findings and dissemination of best practices in the interest of improving health and well-being of individuals with OCD and OCSDs.
  • Cultivate a convivial and supportive platform that encourages professional collaboration.
  • Foster the education and training of early career professionals and support their ongoing growth and development.
  • Increase public health awareness into OCD and OCSDs to improve diagnosis and encourage more effective deployment of resources for assessment and treatment.
  • Facilitate dialogue with legislative bodies, governmental agencies and industry stakeholders to raise awareness of OCD and OCSDs as well as the need of funding agencies and healthcare services to be provided at a global level.

What we do

Aligning with our aims and objectives, we are actively involved in various activities and initiatives, including:

  • Contributing to the development of national and international treatment guidelines and publications.
  • Spearheading research grants, including the Horizon Europe Bootstrap Grant.
  • Promoting professional networking, information exchange, research and clinical collaboration, education, and training of early career professionals with an interest in the field.

We additionally organize a variety of meetings, programs and events, including:

  • The Annual Scientific Meeting, attended by around 50 scholars, clinicians and interested professionals from around the world each year.
  • An Annual Meeting of Members at which the goals and objectives are reviewed, and members have an opportunity to vote on new directions for the ICOCS organization.
  • Masterclasses, workshops and other scientific events requiring networked collaboration and dissemination of new findings in the field of OCD and OCSDs.
